While on our vacation this year we checked out Tacofino a food truck located in Tofino, Vancouver Island. I heard about it from the T.V show Eat Street which showcases food trucks mostly in the states but so far I have seen two from Canada. When I saw the Tacofino episode it was fate! It is located at the back of the Live To Surf shop in Tofino and the first day we went they were closing early due to the Stanley Cup Playoffs the guy said sorry a whole bunch and I just said no we totally get it were from Edmonton :) So we came back the next day and were not disappointed;
We had a chicken burrito (it is HUGE) and a bean gringas (which is like a mini quesadilla) My husband thought the burrito was the best but while the gringa is no Mona Lisa pictured above, it was sooo devine! I wanted to try the tortilla soup that they featured on Eat St but unfortunately it is not something they make on warmer days.
Then we finished with a Diablo cookie it is a chocolate/salty/hot cookie. I get why some people are into it but not my thing I am more of a chocolate purist and I find salt and heat just compete with it and it ends up frustrating me. You dont see a huge amount of Mexican influence in Canada and it was a truly unique and refreshing experience.
Wow, that looks like a fabulous place!
Now, I just want to go back to Vancouver Island...
