Today I attended the first Eat Alberta event and had a great time.
It was a long day full of classes,presentations,good food and great people. In the middle of the day for lunch we made up our own tasting trays full of wonderful foods. Yum!
We also had Italian Center Shop sandwiches and an amazing bean cassoulet w/creme fraiche that Valerie made, so delish!
I was in 3 hands on classes today;
Pasta Making
This was our presenter Katheryn Joel and she is the chef and owner of Get Cooking.
This is my super cute mom we had all our classes together and had so much fun :) You make the dough in class and then you take it home to roll/cut hmm going to be good with the sausage links we made in.....
Sausage Class
This was our Artisan Sausage presenter chef Allan Suddaby.
This class was very informative for anyone going to tackle making sausage at home. One thing I really took away is that it is really important to have 25 to 30% fat content any lower and the sausage suffers. I found it quite amusing that there were (3 guys?) in our class and they were all up in the sausage making, very funny.
Apple Pie and Pastry Making
This was our presenter home cook Christan Miller pictured with her father.
My pie is kinda sad but we took them home and it perked up and got prettier in the oven. It was tart so it begged for ice cream!
Love your shots! It was so much fun! Thanks Andrea

Fantastic photos, Andrea.
Thank you for talking about the proper use of fat in sausages (this is a crusade of mine...)
Glad you enjoyed the conference.
